ALMM – No Blanket Extension of ALMM List-II Beyond 01.06.2026

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has clarified that there will be no blanket extension of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II beyond 01 June 2026. However, the government has assured protection for investments already made by developers and manufacturers through suitable transitional measures.

Understanding ALMM

ALMM, or Approved List of Models and Manufacturers, was introduced to promote the use of domestically manufactured solar cells and modules in government-supported solar projects. The policy supports India’s “Make in India” initiative and aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing while reducing dependency on imports.

No General Extension

The latest clarification confirms that developers and manufacturers must comply with ALMM List-II requirements within the prescribed timeline. The government’s decision indicates its strong commitment towards building a self-reliant renewable energy sector and encouraging further investments in domestic solar manufacturing.

Protection for Existing Investments

While no blanket extension will be provided, the government has recognized the concerns of projects where procurement commitments and investments were already made before the implementation deadline.

To avoid financial losses and project disruptions, suitable protection measures are expected for such cases. These may include transitional arrangements or project-specific considerations for already committed projects and orders.

Industry Impact

The decision may create short-term challenges related to procurement planning and supply chain management. However, in the long term, it is expected to strengthen India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem and improve domestic production capacity.

Conclusion

The government’s stance on ALMM List-II reflects its continued focus on domestic manufacturing and energy security. At the same time, the assurance of protecting existing investments provides relief to developers and investors, supporting a smoother transition towards compliance after 01 June 2026.

Impact on eClouds Energy & eClouds Eyarthi

The ALMM List-II policy update emphasizes the need for strategic planning and timely compliance for companies like eClouds Energy LLP and eClouds Eyarthi Private Limited. The protection of existing investments offers relief to ongoing projects while reinforcing the importance of aligning future renewable energy developments with domestic sourcing requirements.
