Night-Time Adjustment of Day-Time Solar Power Now Permitted

 

Background of the Issue

Recently, a restriction was being enforced in Wheeling Approvals, wherein solar energy generated during daytime hours was not allowed to be adjusted against night-time consumption. This posed operational and financial challenges for solar open-access and group captive consumers.

 

Intervention with TNPDCL

The matter was duly taken up with the senior leadership of Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL). After detailed deliberations and review at the top management level, the issue was successfully resolved.

 

Current Status – Restriction Withdrawn

Following this resolution:

·        No time-based restriction is being enforced in Wheeling Approvals

·        Night-time adjustment of solar energy generated during day hours is now permitted

·        Wheeling Approvals are being issued as usual, in line with established practices

This marks a significant clarification and restores operational flexibility for solar power users.
